Many years of designing character homes in all three climate zones has given us a deeper understand of what custom means – Custom doesn’t necessarily equate to expensive; it simply means we design, in detail, specifically for you and your lifestyle. When Designing classical, transitional or contemporary, our depth of understanding of style is always instilled with a modern liveability.

When designing a Custom Home we start inside and design out. This is more complex than the method they teach you in school: which is design the structure first and fit the function into it. Our approach still oses the necessary information such as the lot size, allowable footprint, space plan requirements. Simultaneously knowing the style we are designing we create a floor plan that takes on the shapes of the exterior style being sought. Each design style has its own shape and character details.

We have been working with Mr. Thomas no since 1990 when we first commission him to design our first full-time living home on Moon River in Muskoka. 20 years later we decided to downsize and acquire another piece of property on a point around the corner from our original Home. And with the great experience we had on the first one we decided to use Mr Thomas again.

Our focus was to design a structure that reflected the past history of Muskoka along with the site challenges and small footprint we thought we could test Mr Thomas’ ability to arise to the challenge. He not only met but exceeded challenge. Is Design detailing ability is excellent. Is knowledge of construction assistant has greatly incomplete at her home and communication with the building department.

We recently just hired Mr. Thomas to redesign two-story boathouse in the same character as are home. To this day there is nothing we would change in either building. Needless to say we are more than pleased and would be happy to recommend him highly.
